The Yankees didn’t officially announce the corresponding move to the Zelous Wheeler move, but Yangervis Solarte’s time as a major league player has come to an end (for now).
Solarte told ESPN Deportes that he was sent down to Triple-A Scranton to make room for Wheeler. Solarte had an amazing first two months of the season before having a sluggish June, which ultimately ended with him being sent down. The Yankees will still need to make a 40 man roster move to put Wheeler on the roster and that hasn’t been announced as of yet.
UPDATE: The Yankees have made a 40-man roster move, and they have designated Dean Anna for assignment. Thanks for the memories of pitching in a blow out and taking a bases loaded walk as the go ahead run, Dean.
