Brett Gardner has been out of the lineup since Sunday afternoon with a sore ankle, but he’s hoping tonight is the night where he’ll be penciled in to face David Price and the Detroit Tigers.

Gardner hit in the cage on Tuesday and he wanted to run for the first time since fouling a ball off his ankle on Saturday against the Chicago White Sox,  but the rains forced him to do his pregame work indoors.

“I don’t have any idea how it’s going to feel, but I know it feels a whole lot better than it did yesterday,” Gardner said before Tuesday’s 5-2 Yankees loss to the Detroit Tigers.

Gardner has missed three straight games prior to tonight, and the Yankees lineup could surely use him considering he’s been one of the most consistent bats in the lineup all season.
