The Yankees and the Tamps Bay Rays have a long history together since the two of them are rivals in the American League East, and the Yankees history at Tropicana Field isn’t a pretty one. However, the Yankees have slight momentum coming into today’s game after yesterday’s 3-2 victory.
The Yankees still need to score more runs, that’s a fact, but for one day, three runs was enough (thanks to a stellar pitching performance by Shane Greene and a clutch hit by Derek Jeter). With that being said, the Yankees must shift their attention to this afternoon, when Hiroki Kuroda takes the ball in this crucial series finale.
Every game from this point on has become a must win, and if the Yankees still want to chase the second wild card spot, they’re going to have to string together a winning streak to make it possible. The Yankees came away with a win last night. Can they do it again this afternoon? One could only hope.
