Here are some morning injury notes regarding some of the Yankees coming into this afternoon’s matinee against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jacoby EllsburyWell, the lineup’s not out yet but don’t expect to see Obi-Wan Jacoby in there this afternoon against the Blue Jays. Joe Girardi said Ellsbury hurt his ankle during the ninth inning of last night’s 6-3 victory on a play at the plate causing him to injure his ankle. Girardi’s going to sit Ellsbury this afternoon and he hopes Ellsbury is a player for him tomorrow.

Worth Noting: Ellsbury walked into the Yankees clubhouse and he was limping, so it’s almost guaranteed he doesn’t play today.

Opinion Note: Why so many ankle injuries for the fast guys on the team? First Brett Gardner and now Ellsbury? Does this mean we have to bubble wrap Ichiro Suzuki?

Masahiro TanakaMasahiro Tanaka is slated to fly to New York today for strength and conditioning on his ‘sore arm’. Tanaka believes the arm is just fatigued from the workload and he’s going to strengthen his arm before throwing another bullpen.
