Here’s a few minor injury notes as the Yankees prepare to play this one make-up game against the Kansas City Royals. If the Yankees want to win five in a row, it won’t be easy: They’re facing James Shields, who’s having a pretty good year.

Brett Gardner: Brett Gardner says his ankle is feeling much better but the Yankees are going to sit him out tonight. He did some minor work during BP but nothing too major. The plan is to have him back in the lineup tomorrow against the Detroit Tigers.

Mark Teixeira: Mark Teixeira is sitting because he felt tightness in his hamstring. As you know, the Yankees are rather cautious, so Teixeira isn’t going to play tonight. Joe Girardi did say that Teixeira will play tomorrow against the Tigers.
