Chase Whitley placed on 15-day DL with elbow sprain

Chase+Whitley+Baltimore+Orioles+v+New+York+Al-bGt8pTZ2lThe Yankees announced they have placed Chase Whitley on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow sprain. With Chris Capuano not being available until Sunday at the earliest (he pitched in a rehab game on Thursday), the Yankees have called up RHP Jose Ramirez from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre.

Whitley’s injury doesn’t mean he’s in the clear from having Tommy John Surgery; the Yankees have yet to announce the severity of his elbow sprain.

On other site, the torn UCL is confirmed but he will see another doctor for a potential TJS.

When this came out, Yankees just said it was a elbow sprain. It was confirmed an hour ago Whitley has a UCL tear.
