Brett Gardner wins his fourth Yankees Heart & Hustle Award

Every year, one player from each of the 30 teams wins his ball clubs “Heart & Hustle Award”, which as described on their website ‘is given to to a current player who not only excels on the field, but also best embodies the values, spirits and traditions of baseball.’

This year, Brett Gardner has won the Heart & Hustle Award for the Yankees, making it the fourth time in his eight year career that he’s won the award; he won in 2010, 2013 and 2014.

With Gardner winning the Yankees Heart & Hustle Award, he’s officially a nominee for the MLB Heart & Hustle Award. No Yankee has won the MLB award since the award’s existence in 2005.

    Always thought he was 60% heart 40% talent but honestly my favorite for captain of the team he gets my vote!

    I have opined in the past that Gardner was the logical choice to succeed Jeter as captain. If he wasn't on the team, no one else would qualify.

    If the Yankees win the world series on Gardy's back, i think there's a 50/50 chance he gets named captain in 2016, otherwise I don't see it happening anytime soon…Gardner could also be a free agent in a few years…the days of "Yankee for life" may be coming to an end…lots of teams looking to pay big money these days…
