For the past two days, the Yankees had been riding high on ‘walk-off heaven’. However, they came back to reality when terrible defense in the eighth inning led to a 8-1 loss against the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The Yankees scored their lone run in the bottom of the sixth on an Alex Rodriguez solo-shot.

Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and gave up four runs on six hits and striking out one. Bryan Mitchell gave up four runs in two innings of work, Chris Capuano pitched a scoreless inning and Nick Rumbelow pitched a scoreless inning.

What’s Next?

— The Yankees are off tomorrow, but they’ll face the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday in the Bronx. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. and the game will air on the YES Network.

OK since the rap on Refsnyder was (or is) that he can't play defense, then all the more reason to promote him. Seems like he'll fit in really well. At least he hits a bit.

And seeing you're not gonna win that game with one run,I'm with you.Bring him up,send Jose P down to work on his game and see if he can hit at the ML level. If he doesn't pan out, send him down to work on specifics.Nova looked off with his command but that's to be expected. He'll have Atleast one more outing like that as he builds his strength back up.Nice series,2of 3,I'll take that

Opened this page so I could read about how the defense failed. This is the extent of the reporting: "However, they came back to reality when terrible defense in the eighth inning led to a 8-1 loss against the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York."

Pal…….really good pitching by the Rays was the real story, here. Arod dinged one, but other than that, not much of a game to watch. It happens.
