It appears the Yankees are going to have to find another starter for tonight’s series finale match-up against the Texas Rangers.

Marly Rivera of ESPN Deportes is reporting Michael Pineda will not make his start against the Texas Rangers tonight due to tightness in his forearm. As a cautionary measure, the Yankees decided to shut him down until further notice.

The Yankees have yet to name a replacement starter for tonight’s game.

Update: Bryan Mitchell will start in place of Michael Pineda tonight, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

UPDATE 2: The Yankees have placed Michael Pineda on the 15-day disabled list with a forearm strain. He’s expected to be out for 4-6 weeks. Instead of Mitchell, CC Sabathia will start tonight.

Comedy! At the exact moment when cashman shouldve been acquiring a quality starting pitcher, pineda gows down. we all know this started over the winter when they wouldnt pony up for scherzer. now cashman is forced to scour the trash heap for some waste. where o where is chase whitley when you need him? now the PRICE truly will be paid…

Hey, Its the same old stuff, Yankees are in , Yankees are in, and then they try to trade junk for prize players and always end up with nothing, George would not have a problem getting the players he wanted regardless. Now with Noava and Pinada hurt, they will drop out of contention, Thank you Hal, Hank, and Brian GOOD JOB ! See you in the Funny Papers LMAO

WOW.. The sky is falling! I would not want a rental for our top 3 minors. Price was never going to sign with the Yankees in the off season so best to hold on to what we have. Warren can go back to rotation like many who were pissed that he went to the bullpen. The Yankees were NEVER going to have 3 pitchers over 20 million a year. 30% of your budget on people who can only play once a week would be insane.

i just hope Cashman holds his ground and doesn't give up too much for a starter…i know the Yankees want to keep Severino at AAA but if he's going to pitch every 5 days, he might as well do it in New York…you can always limit his innings pitched and rely on the bullpen…my guess is that Warren or Mitchell would start ahead of Severino but he could be important as many players haven't seen him pitch…grade 1 strain for Pineda is being reported…
