Rodriguez homers thrice in 8-5 win over Twins


For most of the night, it seemed like the Yankees were going to be down two games to none against the Minnesota Twins. But the Yankees slowly chipped away and ultimately came away with an 8-5 win at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Alex Rodriguez homered three times during this evening’s contest: once in the fourth inning, once in the seventh inning and once in the ninth inning. Chase Headley hit a SAC Fly in the seventh inning and in the ninth, John Ryan Murphy put the Yankees ahead with a three-run blast.

CC Sabathia gave up five runs on six hits in 5.2 innings of work. Adam Warren pitched 2.1 scoreless innings while getting the win and Andrew Miller closed it out in the ninth.

What’s Next?

— The Yankees will attempt to take the series against the Twins in an afternoon showdown. First pitch is at 2:10 p.m. and the game will air on the YES Network.

    Most of us gave Alex no chance to succeed early in the year, and I'm really glad I was wrong. As far as I'm concerned he's the Comeback player of the year and next toTex is our most valuable player.

      I've got to wonder how much playing DH has helped him as he doesn't have to focus as hard, regarding his work as a 3rd baseman.
