Rodriguez’s solo-shot the difference in 4-3 win over Mariners


On the first day of the second half of the season, the Yankees needed to beat the Mariners to keep pace in the American League East division race. And they did just that with a 4-3 win at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The Yankees first scored in the bottom of the second on a Chris Young home run. In the fourth, Chase Headley hit an RBI single, in the fifth, Brian McCann singled and in the seventh, Alex Rodriguez hit the game deciding home run.

Masahiro Tanaka gave up three runs in seven innings of work while notching seven strikeouts. Dellin Betances pitched a scoreless inning and Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless ninth.
