To the surprise of no one, the Yankees have designated Chris Capuano for assignment following his outing against the Texas Rangers last night. As a corresponding move, the Yankees have added Caleb Cotham to the 25- man roster.
Capuano’s job was in jeopardy after giving up five runs and only retiring two batters after throwing 42 pitches, and at the time he didn’t want to think about the possibility of losing his job.
“I try not to worry about that stuff,” he said. “That’s not my area. They’re going to try to do what they can to make the team better. As a player, you do the best you can, and you can live with that. For me, I’m just focused on not getting down, bouncing back, and being resilient like I’ve done throughout my career.”
With Capuano being designated for assignment, it allows Diego Moreno, who pitched during yesterday’s game, to stay on the roster.
