After an explosive offensive outburst yesterday, the Yankees bats were rather quiet tonight. And Masahiro Tanaka wasn’t sharp either as the Yankees fell to the Texas Rangers 5-2 at Global Life Park in Arlington, Texas.

The Yankees lone two runs came in the second inning on a Carlos Beltran home run and a Jacoby Ellsbury RBI single.

Tanaka went six innings, giving up four runs on nine hits while striking out three. Chasen Shreve gave up a run while retiring a batter and Caleb Cotham pitched two scoreless innings.

What’s Next?

— It’s the series finale against the Texas Rangers, and the Yankees will send Michael Pineda to the mound with hopes of taking the series. Yovani Gallardo will pitch for the Rangers. First pitch is at 8:05 p.m. and the game will air on the YES Network.
