Yankees sweep Orioles in 9-3 win


The Yankees have been on a roll and had already taken the series against the Baltimore Orioles with wins on Tuesday and Wednesday. But, they wanted more–and they did get more when they swept the Orioles in a 9-3 victory at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The Yankees scored in the top of the first on a three-run RBI triple by Chase Headley and a RBI single by Didi Gregorius. In the second Jacoby Ellsbury hit a solo-shot, in the third Stephen Drew hit a RBI double and Ellsbury drove in a run via a SAC Fly, and in the seventh Ellsbury hit a two-run double.

Masahiro Tanaka gave up three runs on five hits in 7.2 innings of work. Chris Capuano pitched a scoreless inning and Branden Pinder retired a batter.

What’s Next?

— The Yankees go on a 10 game road trip and the first part of the road trip leads them to Minnesota, where they’ll take on the second place Twins. First pitch is at 8:05 p.m. and the game will air on the YES Network.
