After a late night loss to the Chicago White Sox, the Yankees got on the board early and didn’t look back, resulting in a 12-3 win at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois.
The Yankees first got on the board in the first inning on a Jacoby Ellsbury lead-off home run. In the fourth, Didi Gregorius hit a two-run single, Jacoby Ellsbury hit a SAC Fly and Brett Gardner hit a two-run single. In the fifth, Mark Teixeira hit a solo-shot and Stephen Drew hit a two-run RBI double. And in the seventh inning, Drew hit a two-run RBI triple and Ellsbury had an RBI groundout.
Ivan Nova went six innings giving up one run on five hits and striking out seven. Chasen Shreve gave up two runs on three hits while retiring two batters, Branden Pinder pitched 1.1 scoreless innings and Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless ninth.
