After only making two appearances in the Major Leagues, Diego Moreno is heading to the disabled list with an elbow issue which resulted in Branden Pinder being called up to replace Moreno on the Yankees roster.
“It’s not the ligament, it’s not the forearm,” Girardi said before this afternoon’s contest against the Chicago White Sox. “He’ll see Dr. Ahmad tomorrow. It’s unfortunate. Hopefully it’s not long.”
It was entirely possible Moreno suffered the injury while pitching three innings during last night’s contest, an outing that saw him give up a home run and four runs. His lackluster outing came just a few days after pitching 5.1 scoreless innings against the Texas Rangers in a 21-3 Yankees blowout.
“He didn’t say anything during the game.” Girardi said. “He said in the middle of the night it kinda started aching and it was sore today so we decided to DL him right away.”
