Injury Notes: Ellsbury and Headley

Here are a few injury notes prior to tonight’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jacoby Ellsbury

Jacoby Ellsbury has returned to the Yankees lineup for the first time since Saturday’s game. He had been battling a knee bone bruise after colliding with the wall at Fenway Park. Ellsbury initially stayed in the game but later exited when Joe Girardi realized Ellsbury couldn’t run. Running was a test Ellsbury had to pass prior to being inserted in the lineup and it seems as if Ellsbury came through just fine during his pregame workouts.

Chase Headley

Chase Headley has been battling some back stiffness for the past few days, and is once again sitting. The Yankees are still unsure when Headley will return but it doesn’t appear as if it will happen anytime soon.

It would appear that Headley will miss out on the $250,000 PA incentive in his contract that would kick in with his 550th PA.
