Over the last week, all eyes have been on the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs as the two teams battle it out for the coveted World Series title. However, the Yankees made quite a few headlines over the last week regarding their ex-relievers, their current outfielder, their Top 10 prospects, and Yankee Stadium undergoing renovations.
So, without further ado, here is your week in review.

— Ex-third baseman Alex Rodriguez found himself a new gig as an analyst during the World Series pregame show on FOX. And during one of his pregame shows, Rodriguez said while he’s rooting for both Andrew Miller and Aroldis Chapman, he prefers Miller, who is a reliever on the Cleveland Indians.
“I played for 22 years and I’ve never seen a clubhouse hurt so much when a guy was traded,” A-Rod said about Miller during a FOX Sports broadcast. “It wasn’t just because he’s great. He is the best reliever in the game. He has the best slider. He throws 94. He can get righties and lefties out.
“He’s (also) extremely intelligent. He went to the University of North Carolina. He’s a leader, he cares, he speaks out in meetings. I don’t think the world knows what a special guy Andrew Miller is.
“What he does as a leader, what he does for the young teammates, and how he sets the tone for starters and relievers, he’s off the charts.”
— The Yankees also announced they were going to undergo renovations at the New Yankee Stadium. Some of the new renovations includes a Sunrun Kids Clubhouse, MasterCard Batter’s Eye Deck, new Bullpen landings, an AT&T Sports Lounge and Budweiser Party Decks. Along with that, the Yankees announced an additional 200,000 tickets will discount at $15 or less which will be in addition to the MasterCard $5 games, Half-Priced games and Youth games.
“We have listened to our fans and ticketholders and their top requests were for more family-friendly and socially-oriented spaces at Yankee Stadium,” said Yankees Managing General Partner Hal Steinbrenner. “Yankees fans will now have many more dedicated areas for spending time with Guests who have tickets in other sections of the Stadium, allowing all Guests to be able to enjoy the game from multiple vantage points while having unique food and drink options available to them. We are also especially excited to provide an engaging children’s play area for families to utilize prior to and throughout the game. Having these types of spaces in Yankee Stadium is fundamental to the expectations of our fans, and we look forward to making them a huge part of the Yankee Stadium experience in 2017 and beyond.”

— Andrew Miller appreciates everything the Yankees did for him, and he loved playing in New York. But Miller admitted the way manager Joe Girardi handled the bullpen was quite messy, and it was hard to disagree with him.
“I know when Aroldis Chapman came back to us for the Yankees this year, Dellin Betances and I were kind if up in the air about what order we would pitch,” Miller said prior to Game 2 of the 2016 World Series. “And in some instances it created a mess because we were both warming up next to each other.
I think all managers, I think Joe Girardi, Tito I’ve been lucky to have some that really handled the bullpen well. But you hate to have two guys warming up at the same time. It seems wasteful in a sense.”

— Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner was a human highlight reel throughout the season. And because of Gardner’s stellar defense at left field, he was nominated for a Gold Glove Award. Gardner is up against Kansas City Royals Alex Gordon and Houston Astros Colby Rasmus. However, Gardner has far better numbers than his competitors.
You’d like to think Gardner has all but won the award, but as we’ve seen in years past, stranger things have happened. (Yoenis Cespedes winning it last year while he spent half a season in the National League was one of those ‘stranger things’).

— Baseball America announced the New York Yankees Top 10 prospects, and to no one’s surprise, Gleyber Torres was at the top of the list. Clint Frazier, Blake Rutherford, Jorge Mateo, James Kaprielian, Aaron Judge, Justus Sheffield, Chance Adams, Dustin Fowler and Domingo Acevedo rounded out the Top 10 list.

— And to round out the week for the New York Yankees, not only are the Bronx Bombers renovating Yankee Stadium but they’re also going to renovate George M. Steinbrenner Field. The team will add new amenities such as a logo box, cabanas, suite upgrades, right-field beachside bar and a bullpen club.
The renovations are expected to be completed before February.
