On November 8th, the Yankees designated Branden Pinder for assignment to make some room on the 40-man roster.
10 days later, Pinder is still in the Yankees organization since he wasn’t claimed on waivers.
It was announced Pinder was outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday afternoon. Pinder could still make the 40-man roster in Spring Training, but for the time being the Yankees are setting their roster for the Rule 5 Draft coming up.
Pinder pitched six innings between the minors and majors in 2016 before he was shelved with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. He had a 3.45 ERA in 28.2 innings with the Yankees from 2015 and 2016.
