Yankees to retire Derek Jeter’s No. 2 on May 14th

We all wondered when the Yankees were going to retire Derek Jeter‘s No. 2. Every season passed by and there wasn’t a retirement ceremony for the former Yankees captain.

Well, there is now.

The New York Yankees announced they are going to retire Jeter’s No. 2 and give him a plaque in Monument Park on May 14, 2017, which is on Mother’s Day.

Once the Yankees retire Jeter’s number, no Yankee will wear numbers one through ten. In fact, the first wearable number would be No. 11…which is already taken. Sorry.

Jeter is the 22nd Yankee to have his number retired, joining Bernie WilliamsJoe TorreAndy PettitteMariano Rivera and Jorge Posada.

Tickets are not yet available for individual purchase. If you would like a ticket for the May 14th game, the Yankees recommend getting a partial-ticket or full-season plan.

Thanks for the info Rob, much appreciated. That's literally one whole weeks paycheck for me with my job, money is scarce being a college kid lol (well not exactly a kid I'm 22), guess I know what I'm asking for for Christmas hahaha

Time to start saving all my money to buy a ticket for this, I have so much regret as a Yankee fan that I never got to see a game at the stadium Jeter's last year, I WILL NOT MISS THIS!!!
