10 players in Yankees organization to play in World Baseball Classic

The rosters for the World Baseball Classic were announced yesterday, and as expected there are a few Yankees that will participate this year.

Ten players in the Yankees organization will partake in the month-long event, including Dellin Betances (Dominican Republic), Luis Severino (Dominican Republic), Tyler Clippard (USA), Didi Gregorius (Netherlands), Tommy Layne (Italy) and Richard Bleier (Israel).

Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez elected to back out of the World Baseball Classic earlier this week and instead will focus on his upcoming season with the Yankees.

The World Baseball Classic runs from March 5th to March 22nd.

  1. Great news! In certain instances I understand why you would want to see players hold back, like in Gary Sanchez's case, but most times, even with pitchers, I'd rather see them play. Pitchers are on strict pitch counts and batters aren't doing anything they normally wouldn't. Plus it's a fun tournament. Glad to have Yankees to root for.

I like the way this tournament is evolving. Our squad is loaded this time and that gives us a better shot at winning this time. Nice to see all the players proud enough to represent their country. I can't wait to watch some baseball!!!
