Kids come to play in 4-1 win over Orioles

The Yankees sent their young kids to Sarasota on Monday afternoon to play against the Baltimore Orioles. As everyone expected, the kids came to play, resulting in a 4-1 win at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida.

The Yankees scored in the top of the first on a RBI ground out by Aaron Judge. The Yankees added three more runs in the ninth on a three-run home run by Thairo Estrada.

Chad Green started for the Yankees, pitching two scoreless innings. Evan Rutckyj gave up a run in his inning, Giovanny Gallegos pitched two scoreless innings, Matt Marsh pitched two scoreless innings, Joe Mantiply pitched an inning, and Kyle Haynes pitched an inning.

What’s Next?

— The Yankees play a split-squad against the Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox. For the Tigers and Yankees game, Daniel Norris will start for the Tigers and Masahiro Tanaka will start for the Yankees. For the Red Sox and Yankees game, Luis Cessa will start for the Yankees and the Red Sox have yet to name a starter. Neither game is on television but the Red Sox and Yankees game is on WEEI (Boston) Radio.

    They have a nice energy going on down there. It's fun to watch, once again, if we can get some good pitching, maybe the playoffs are not that far away.
