Sabathia dazzles in 3-2 win over Cardinals 3

Cardinals vs. Yankees
FINAL: Yankees 3, Cardinals 2
WIN: CC Sabathia (2-0, 1.47 ERA)
LOSS: Carlos Martinez (0-2, 3.57 ERA)

A day after Masahiro Tanaka delivered a pitching performance to give the Yankees their first win of the series against St. Louis, it was CC Sabathia’s turn on the mound. And for almost eight innings, Sabathia dazzled. Along with getting some run support from the offense, the team was able to defeat the Cardinals 3-2 for their sixth straight win at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

The Yankees scored in the top of the first on a wild pitch that plated Brett Gardner. In the bottom of the sixth, Aaron Hicks reached on a fielder’s choice which scored Ronald Torreyes, and later in the inning Chris Carter hit a RBI single.

Sabathia went 7.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits while striking out six. Adam Warren retired two batters and Tyler Clippard allowed a run in his inning of work.

What’s Next?

— The Yankees and Cardinals square off in the series finale of this three game set as Michael Pineda hopes to extend the Yankees win-streak to seven. Adam Wainwright will start for the Cardinals. First pitch is at 8:05 p.m. and the game will air on ESPN.

More length from a starter, gotta love it. It makes winning much easier. The offense wasn't exactly on fire but the big fella was dealin'!! Three outstanding starts in a row, unbelievable. Home stand looking pretty good

Got a little dicey near the end, not being able to use Betances or Chapman, because of them pitching 3 days in a row. Winning all these games by one run , tough on our best relief. Time for a laugher! On the Yankees side of course. Kudos to Sabathia
