After a relaxing off-day on Thursday, the Yankees began a three game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Unfortunately for CC Sabathia, once the Pirates got on the board, they never looked back, resulting in a 6-3 loss at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The Yankees scored in the third on a double by Chase Headley, and in the fifth two runs scored via an error.
Sabathia went five innings, giving up four runs on seven hits while striking out three. Adam Warren gave up two runs (none earned) in 1.2 innings, Tommy Layne failed to record an out, Jonathan Holder retired a batter and Tyler Clippard pitched a scoreless inning.
— The Yankees attempt to split the series at one game apiece by sending Michael Pineda to the mound. Jameson Taillon will start for the Pirates. First pitch is at 4:05 p.m. and the game will air on WPIX 11.
