Greg Bird makes progress in returning to Yankees

On a cold and rainy day at Yankee Stadium, first baseman Greg Bird was one step closer to reuniting with his Yankees teammates on the 25-man roster.

According to Bryan Hoch of, Bird took dry swings at a wet and cold Yankee Stadium prior to Monday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. The next step for Bird would be tee & toss tomorrow.

The Yankees have struggled at the first base position, notably with Bird and Chris Carter not performing to par. The Yankees even tried using Matt Holliday at first. But with Holliday’s recent questionable defense at first, it’s no secret the Yankees would be glad to have Bird back in the fold.
