Yankees Returning to Unsuccessful Ways of Decade?

Is it just me, or are the 2010 Yankees beginning to look a lot like the Yankees who didn’t win a World Series from 2001-2008? Nick Johnson was a likable guy but he had trouble staying healthy and Javier Vazquez didn’t pitch up to par — especially for a guy with high expectations. I wasn’t following ...

Don't Pay for the Past

Last season, everyone knew the Yankees wanted to sign 2 pitchers.  The first one was obvious: CC Sabathia.  There was debate about who the second one should be, but in the end, most people agreed it came down to 2 choices: AJ Burnett or Derek Lowe. Burnett was coming off a good, though slightly inconsistent year ...

mark-derosa

If Twitter had a ‘like’ button, I would definitely have liked Buster Olney’s tweet this morning. If Johnson passes physical,NYY will move on to next targets -- definitely a starting pitcher, and quite possibly Mark DeRosa, if $ are right I like all three points he makes. Updated Lineup Projections

Back in November, I ran through some possible Yankee lineups using the Lineup Analysis tool from Baseball Musings. Now with the trade for Curtis Granderson, I'm gonna throw up some Granderson-inclusive lineups. Again, this is using the CHONE Projections for OBP and SLG. Okay, first let's assume that the Yankees are not adding any more ...

Now With Granderson Aboard, What Should Be Done Regarding Damon, DH

The Yankees acquired OF Curtis Granderson yesterday in the 3-team deal.   Granderson's addition that as of now they have four outfielders: Granderson, Nick Swisher, Brett Gardner, and Melky Cabrera.  In the perfect world, this is what the Yankees should do. First of all, they should tell Curtis Granderson that he is playing left field.  Brett ...
